A RETURN TO SANITY
Maybe it's time to admit that we've made golf way too complicated.
We live in the Age of Misinformation—where every golf question has a thousand answers, every swing has a hundred moving parts, and every bad shot seems to require another technical explanation.
But underneath all the instruction, technology and terminology, something remarkably simple is happening.
The golf swing has three fundamental actions.
The body pivots.
The arms swing.
The hands act.
That's it.
The body pivots to create and transfer motion.
The arms swing the club.
The hands act on the club to deliver it.
Everything else is a reaction to one of those three things.
The Primal Golf Method is a return to that simplicity.
The Primal Golf Method
1. SETUP — Prepare the Body
Before you swing, you establish the conditions for motion. The goal isn't to force yourself into a textbook position.
It's to find a repeatable setup that matches your body and your motion.
Set the feet. Set the grip. Set the posture.
Then get ready to move.
2. PIVOT — Let the Body Extend
The body is the engine of the swing.
Instead of consciously manipulating a dozen body parts, learn to use the ground and let the body pivot naturally.
Pressure shifts. The trail side extends. The body transitions. The lead side extends. That’s it.

3. SWING — Let the Arms Go
The arms are designed to swing.
They don't need to be steered through every position.
They respond to the pivot and create the club's path and speed.
Swing the arms with speed while maintaining the structure that allows transition and braking to occur naturally.
4. ACT — Let the Hands Deliver
The hands aren't passengers. They are the steering wheel.
Where the hands go, the club goes.
And the body responds to where the hands go.
They are the only link between you and the club.
They respond to the target, the shot and the speed you're trying to create.
The hands act. The clubhead strikes.
The ball goes.
5. SEE — Eyes to Target
The next piece isn't mechanical at all.
It's perceptual.
Hyperfocus on the ball creates conscious control and restricts movement.
As the club starts down, rotate your eyes toward the target.
You’ll see the ball fly INTO your field of vision, instead of looking up and the ball is halfway there.
That's the Primal View: putting the shot you want into your field of vision before you make the swing.
You don't need to consciously control every movement.
You need to allow proprioception - your body’s ability to sense where it is in time and space - control delivery.
6. PACE — Control the Speed
And there's one thing that connects it all:
Pace.
Every shot has a speed.
Every yardage has a clubhead speed that delivers the desired distance.
Every golfer has a natural rhythm.
The objective isn't to swing at one universal tempo. It's to discover the pace that produces the shot you want—and learn to reproduce it.
When the pressure rises, don't add more mechanics.
Keep the beat. And you’ll beat the heat.
The Return to Sanity
The Primal Golf Method isn't about learning less.
It's about understanding what matters.
Setup creates the conditions.
The body pivots.
The arms swing.
The hands act.
The eyes see.
The pace controls the motion.
Then something important happens.
You stop trying to make a golf swing.
You start playing a shot.
That's the return to sanity.
So simple, a Caveman can do it.
